Domestically Challenged Am I

(Note the recipe book and the measuring cup in the photo)

I am domestically challenged, seriously, I hate all types of housework and I am not very good at them either.

Actually I'm not very good at them on purpose so I won't be asked to do them.

Oops, did I just say that out loud? Shhh... don't tell anyone.

Well anyways G. asked me to make him a cake for his birthday, not just any cake my friends a "special cake". He wanted his cake to be red like velvet and strawberry flavored. This is special because G. usually likes chocolate cake, any and all types of chocolate cake, plus it's his birthday. So why the strawberry? I don't know but it was a special request so I felt compelled to oblige.

A quick trip to the overpriced grocery store and one box of instant cake later... He got a strawberry swirl cake with a strawberry mousse as icing, which I think is much better.

So a few hours and a few drinks later the cake was completed. And the best part... He didn't know it was instant cake :)

I love to cook and drink at the same time. As long there is someone else to clean up the mess. Your cake sounds soo yummmie!

Well, I can't do jack shit in the kitchen either. I'm lost without a microwave, I have no concept of how to season something, and baking is a totally lost art form. I can't even grill chicken very well.

But at least you are making an effort to cook--that is awesome. YOu could have bought a ready-made cake at some hack bakery. YOu took the high road, instant mix or otherwise.

That's an awesome pic! I think you should use it on the cover of cookbook for us domestically challenged girls...showing us short cuts to cooking and baking. ;-)

Well, at least you have an electric mixer. I recall the few times I've attempted to bake having to stir the batter with whatever was around the house (teaspoon, paint stirrer, bare arm). So you're ahead of the game there.

If I want instant cake I just go and buy one already made.

If I tried to do it myself, it would cause nightmares or some kind of therapy inducing mental scarring.

Are you showing us it only requires one cup of sugar?

Undr, Julia who? wasn't that some older lady on TV? If so, are you saying that I'm old?

Locutus, I heart Carrot Cake, it is one of my favs. Hope your trip to B-town was good, even if you didn't stay long.

Grody, who said I was pissy? ...Okay maybe I was pissy.

Linda, I agree, can't stand to clean up the mess, I will bake on occassion, rare occassions that is.

Thanks, Jen! I love the new site!!!

Blake, where were you that day? That would have been such an evil but good idea to buy the ready made cake.

Marie, that would be a great book. I am not sure who would buy it though.

Lori, I am not sure if my cooking is what does the trick, it is probably something else ;)

Anika, I thought that you would appreciate it. I saw that you tagged me. I will post my tag soon.

Chianca, the bare arm must have been interesting. Did you have any batter left?

Jerk, I don't blame you, I have been tossing and turning ever since ;)

Glitter, thanks for stopping by, I also think that's the best part.

Fred, no, not 1 cup of sugar, if anything I'm showing that I'm #1, but that's really not it. It will take a few another whole posts to explain that one.
