How can you tell the ocean is friendly?

I know silly, but it goes so well with my day. We are headed off to the beach, hope it doesn't rain.

Have a GREAT time at the beach! How does the beach there compare to the beaches in Florida?
Lori, the beaches here are nothing like they are in Florida. 1st of the water is freezing, 2nd the sand isn't white (like on the west coast of Florida) it is more like the sand on the east coast. However some are pretty scenic like the beaches in Martha's Vineyard, very rocky and has big rock like hills that go right to the water, which is clear, it's very beautiful.
Tomas, Especially in Florida, which is known for having the most sharks, attacks in the world. Not typically deaths from them, except that poor girl in Destin, eeek. I used to live there for about a year, absolutely gorgeous, the best beaches in the country. I figure one day that will be where I retire.
